Recent Developments in the Optimization of Space Robotics for Perception in Planetary Exploration

چکیده
The following paper reviews recent developments in the field of optimization of space robotics. The extent of focus of this paper is on the perception (robotic sense of analyzing surroundings) in space robots in the exploration of extra-terrestrial planets. Robots play a crucial role in exploring extra-terrestrial and planetary bodies. Their advantages are far from being counted on finger tips. With the advent of autonomous robots in the field of robotics, the role for space exploration has further hustled up. Optimization of such autonomous robots has turned into a necessity of the hour. Optimized robots tend to have a superior role in space exploration. With so many considerations to monitor, an optimized solution will nevertheless help a planetary rover perform better under tight circumstances. Keeping in view the above mentioned area, the paper describes recent developments in the optimization of autonomous extra-

Recent Robotics Developments at NASA/JPL
While progress in AI, Robotics and Automation has been achieved in the United States along multiple fronts, this report will focus on JPL contributions to NASA space exploration objectives. Complementary contributions from NASA and university partners are also noted. As an overview, this article will only briefly describe these activities, and detailed descriptions can be obtained both from the...
متن کاملDispelling the myth of robotic efficiency
2.22 A&G • April 2012 • Vol. 53 There is a widely held view in the astronomical community that unmanned robotic space vehicles are, and always will be, more efficient explorers of planetary surfaces than astronauts (e.g. Coates 2001, Clements 2009, Rees 2011). Partly this comes from a common assumption that robotic exploration is cheaper than human exploration (although this isn’t necessarily t...
متن کاملTowards Autonomous Long - Range Navigation ‘ Isairas 2005 Conference ’ , Munich , 5 - 8 September 2005
The recent success of NASA’s Mars Exploration Rovers has demonstrated the important benefits that mobility adds to landed planetary exploration missions. The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has been conducting research in ground control and in autonomous robotics for several years already. One of the target applications is planetary exploration using mobile platforms. The emphasis of our research p...
متن کاملRecent developments in configuration design and optimization of mineral separation circuits; A Review
The present research reviews two basic approaches for the separation circuit configuration analysis. The first approach is to optimize the circuit configuration. In this method, after a circuit modeling, a variety of search algorithms and mathematical optimization methods are used. Previous works show that this approach has more application in the flotation process. The second approach called t...
متن کاملWireless Sensor Networks for Planetary Exploration: Experimental Assessment of Communication and Deployment
Planetary surface exploration is an appealing application of wireless sensor networks that has been investigated in recent years by the space community, including the European Space Agency. The idea is to deploy a number of self-organizing sensor nodes forming a wireless networked architecture to provide a distributed instrument for the study and exploration of a planetary body. To explore this...
